Robert Ankenbauer, Sr.
March 06, 2010 · Funeral services for Robert Ankenbauer, Sr., 73, of Coon Rapids were held on Sunday, March 14 at Johnson and Woodhouse Funeral Home in Coon Rapids. Burke Johnson officiated the service.
Casket bearers were Ryan Ankenbauer, Josh Ankenbauer, Mike Nagl, John Bock, Drew Loew, Sean Loew, and Jacob Loew. Honorary casket bearers were Ron Beyerink, Dick Tigges, Mike Hartl, Ron Smith, Fred Sigler, Dick Knudsen, Don Sorenson, Dan George, Ron Barker, Bob Warnke, and Liz Trimble.
Interment will be held at the Dedham Cemetery in Dedham at a later date.
Robert Ankenbauer, Sr.
Robert Kent, son of Bernard and Freda (McDaniel) Ankenbauer, was born July 3, 1936, at Carroll, Iowa. He grew up near Dedham and attended Dedham Grade School and graduated from Carroll High School in 1955. Bob first worked as a grain hauler for Ambrose Haubrich and then as a bridge contractor for Axman Construction until his retirement in 2002.
Bob loved playing cards. For many years, he was a member of the Dedham slow-pitch softball team. He was an outdoor enthusiast and enjoyed gardening, fishing, trapping and hunting. Above all, he cherished time spent with his family and friends.
On Saturday, March 6, 2010, Bob died of cancer at St. Anthony Hospital in Carroll, Iowa. He was 73 years of age.
Bob is survived by two sons: Bob Ankenbauer Jr. and wife Teresa of Coon Rapids and Joe Ankenbauer and wife Connie of Dedham; four daughters: Rhonda Bock and husband Neil of Carroll; Sheree Nagl and husband Al of Carroll; Tammy Loew and husband Jerry of Madrid and Tanya Kruse and husband Doug of Adel; 16 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; three sisters: Linda Robinson and husband Lloyd of Irwin; Diane Kitt and husband Ray of Dedham and Judy Ankenbauer of Dedham; a brother Harry Ankenbauer and wife Betty of Michigan; two sisters-in-law: Cleo Ankenbauer of Fairfield and Donna Ankenbauer of Dedham; several nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers: Doug Ankenbauer and Dean Ankenbauer and a granddaughter Emily Loew. |
